Pull Out Pantry Shelves That slide
Pull Out Sliding Shelves
Measuring for pull out shelves is simple. Using a standard tape measure you will want to get exact dimensions for the cabinet in which you desire to have pull out shelves. In order for these shelves that slide to work, you must use the most narrow measurement at the clear opening, obstruction free for the shelf to pull out. Normally, that measurement would be frame to frame, or frame to side of door if impeding in the opening. Sometimes the measurement will be frame to hinge at the bottom of the cabinet if the hinge protrudes into the opening. With a standard 3“ side wall you can clear the hinge if there is 4” between the cabinet floor and the bottom of the hinge. The object is to get the clear opening for the shelf to slide through the door without anything in its way.
Door protectors, or the white plastic thing included in your hardware pack, is to be screwed over the pull out shelf hardware at the front of the shelf on the door side to prevent scratching the inside of the door. These only work with 3/4 extension slides.
Upon receiving the pull out sliding shelves, you will want to pair your hardware with the shelf for each cabinet and method of installation. For base mount with 4 L brackets on 3/4 extension slides or ball bearing, putting the slides on the shelf before you insert the pull out will make it easier to align. Simply slide the hardware onto the shelf, then angle the unit 45 degrees to go in the cabinet and set in place inside the cabinet. Gently pull the shelf forward about 6 inches to expose the rear brackets. Drive one provided screw into a side to side slot, in case you need to make an adjustment later. Push the shelf back and squeeze the slides to the shelf to ensure the front is lined up, then gently pull the shelf all the way out making sure the front of the slides do not move. Drive another screw into the front brackets side to side slot. Insert the shelf to check for alignment. Once confident the slides are accurate, drive one more screw into each of the brackets round slots. Congratulations! You just completed installing your first pull out shelf.
Once you have paired the hardware with the pull out shelves accordingly, you may begin the installation process. Half-shelf and rear mount installation will require a tape measure and torpedo level. Pictured above is the rear mount and half-shelf installation. Rear mount has a bracket off the back end of the slide that attaches to the rear wall, half-shelf has an L bracket on the back side that will screw directly over the shelf in the cabinet. Installation is similar in that both methods will attach to the frame at the front of the cabinet/opening. Using a torpedo level ensures the pull out shelf will not roll one way or another once installed.
