Kitchen Sliding Shelves Production Process

Manufacturing

The Shelf Guy Kitchen Sliding Shelves are manufactured in Keytesville, MO. I got my start in the industry almost 20 years ago in Phoenix, AZ. I have spent the last 5 years building The Shelf Guy to compete with the top brands.

I use 12mm Baltic Birch sides, rabbet-joined, with a 1/2” recessed dado groove for the 1/4” pre-finished plywood bottom to surround. Every joint is glued and nailed making a strong bond that will withstand weights up to 100 pounds and last beyond our lifetime warranty (local installs only.)

Measuring For Kitchen Sliding Shelves

Proper measurements will ensure maximum storage capacity when considering adding kitchen sliding shelves.

Start by measuring the width of the cabinet opening for which you wish to install pull out shelves into. The opening width may vary depending on hinge or door infringement.

If there are no obstructions you will simply need to measure the narrowest width of the cabinet the kitchen sliding shelf will pull out from. In a 2 door cabinet with hinges on each side that is not 4” above the floor, you will need to measure the narrowest width between the hinges. If the doors impede into the opening you will need to measure between the doors for upper pull out shelves.

Depth will measure from the back wall to the front of the face of the cabinet where the door rests against. Standard kitchen cabinets have around a 23” depth. The standard sliding shelf measurement to fit in a 23” cabinet is 21 3/4” which, in the industry, we call 22”.

Choosing slides for Kitchen Sliding Shelves

All of the slides offered in our online store are manufactured in the U.S.A. When deciding which style to go with, there are several things to consider. Style, length extension, price and functionality.

Blum 3/4 extension Euro style slides are one of the most common slides on the market. Made of white powder coated steel with nylon wheels, they extend 3/4ths out the cabinet opening. These are rated at 75 pounds, however, with the durability of our pull out shelves we guarantee they will hold 100. These are standard and included in the price in our online store.

Knape and Vogt ball bearing full extension soft-close slides are made of cold rolled steel rated to hold 100 pounds. These slides fully extend and have a soft-close feature. 5 year warranty on locally installed pull out shelves.

Blum Tandem with BluMotion 563H. The most luxurious slide on the market. TANDEM plus BLUMOTION concealed drawer runners offer excellent stability and minimal sag, all while maintaining smooth running action and unmatched soft-close. For heavy duty slides we offer Blum Movento which hold up to 150 lbs.
